PRIOR CRIMES AT THE VILLAGES AT CARVER APARTMENTS

On Jan. 24, 2023, a person died in a shooting at the complex.
There were two other homicides in June 2023.
From January-October 2022, four people were shot to death at this complex and another person was wounded.
On Sept. 27, 2022, a 16-year-old was killed in a Villages at Carver shooting.
On June 19, 2022, two teenagers were killed.
On Jan. 12, 2022 another person was killed.
In August 2022 a 19-year-old was wounded.
All told, from 2017 through July 2023 at these four addresses, police reported 407 crimes.
In addition to the homicides, there were 64 aggravated assaults, 33 robberies, three rapes and six other sexual assaults.
In October 2022, the family of one of the victims of the 2017 homicide sued the operators of the complex, alleging insufficient security.
The city lists 26 code complaints at these addresses. Among the 2023 complaints were leaks and flooding, debris in the walkway and rats.
Recent HUD inspeciton scores ranged from a failing 55c to 69c.
In July 2022, Atlanta announced that the complex was on its list of properties to be targeted because of chronic crime and condition problems.

Villages at Carver Shooting: Fox 5 News reports

"A woman is recovering in the hospital after police say she was hit by a bullet fired into a southwest Atlanta apartment."

Outside gunfire wounds woman.

"Officials with the Atlanta Police Department say the shooting happened shortly before 10:50 p.m. on Tuesday at the Villages at Carver on the 100 block of Moury Avenue." Gunfire hits woman inside apartment. Could this have been prevented?

Gunfire hits woman inside apartment. "Medics rushed the woman to a local hospital for treatment. She is expected to survive her injuries."

Outside gunfire wounds woman. "Investigators believe the woman was inside an apartment when someone fired into the building from outside. At this time, police have not released any information about the motive for the shooting or the gunman's identity."
